New Stem

The stem is the part of the watch that connects the crown to the movement of the timepiece. The watchmaker may, on occasion, find it necessary to replace both the crown and the stem of the watch at the same time. It is dependent on the age of the present crown as well as the state of the crown. An older crown may get stuck to the stem, making it extremely difficult to remove. When this happens, the old stem breaks off within the crown, which means that the crown has to be replaced. This happens more often than not.
